Starting your day is like building a foundation for a house. It doesn’t matter how well your house is designed – without a stable foundation, it’ll crumble. My morning routine actually begins the night before. I am very disciplined about having all gadgets off in my house by 10 pm. I wrap up my day with a shower, brushing my teeth, stretching, reading, and finally, my gratitude blessing. By doing this, I have prepared my mind and body for a deep rest in tune with the circadian rhythms.
Ideally, I wake up before the sun rises. The first thing I do is scrape my tongue with my tongue scraper to remove the ama (white toxins). Then I brush my teeth, and drink a large glass of warm water with a dash of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice.
Then I move. Depending on the weather, I surf, go to the gym, do yoga, stretching or swimming. Then it’s time for stillness – meditation. It works on every level – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Once that is done, it’s time for breakfast and to get cracking with my day.
